The Leningrad series comprises sets of quality, large chess pieces available in ebonized boxwood, anjan, and here we have the acacia version. The dark pieces in this set are crafted from a beautifully grained wood that is slightly lighter than golden rosewood (sheesham). Acacia is a hugely versatile shrub, as its seeds are often used for food and a range of other products.
