Celebrate medieval history with this 14th-century inspired Berkeley Chess set, paired with a beautifully crafted 17.7-inch walnut and maple chess board from Rechapados Ferrer.

To commemorate the rich history, Berkeley Chess has produced these stunning medieval chess pieces based on a 14th-century German set. The reverse side of the king’s throne shows warriors, the queen’s throne shows ladies-in-waiting, and the bishop’s throne shows holy men and musicians. The design of the rook takes inspiration from the introduction of the castle into early European chess.

This wonderful set of chess pieces has been paired with a 17.7-inch walnut and maple chess board created by the experts at Rechapados Ferrer. As with all our wooden boards, this chess board has been created using real wood veneers precisely cut and hand-inlaid to create a seamless playing surface.
