The Regency Chess Company Reviews:
A stunning luxury chess set featuring 1853 Paulsen Reproduction ebony pieces, a 21.7-inch Spanish palisander chess board and a handcrafted wooden chess piece case.
Based on the traditional Staunton design, the 1853 Paulsen Reproduction pieces are handcrafted from solid ebony and boxwood. They are painstakingly carved and finished to perfection, and the bases, which are quite broad for this height, are covered with billiard cloth so that your chess board will not be damaged during play. The 1853 Paulsen Reproduction chess pieces have a 3.5-inch king and have been named after Louis Paulsen (Jan 1833 to August 1891), who, during the 1860s and 1870s, was among the top five players in the world.
To accommodate these historic pieces, we have matched them with a beautiful 21.7-inch chess board from Spain. The high-grade mongoy palisander and maple veneers create a beautiful playing field for the Paulsen pieces and, with its 2.2-inch playing squares, suits them perfectly.
While not in play, there is a stunning wenge-colored wooden chess piece case included. These cases are crafted by the world-famous family-run business Manopoulos of Greece, renowned for their skill and expertise in this field. The box features a large compartment, and with the brass-colored hinges and clasps, this case is a timeless classic.
