This traditional-looking chess set pairs our new Highgrove ebonized Staunton chess pieces with a classic walnut deluxe chess board.

Attention to detail is staggering. The bases are wide for a 3-inch set, and they sweep up elegantly to the shanks. The finish is achieved through multiple stages of hand polishing using only natural polishes and waxes.

The set is very generously weighted for its size, and each piece features a resilient green baize base which not only protects the chess board surface but also allows the chess pieces to glide nicely. The chess board is constructed using European walnut and maple veneers, beautifully framed by a thin inlaid band of ebony that complements the ebonized chess pieces well.

Finally, the set includes a compact burl wood chess piece case that provides a way of storing the chess pieces when not in use. A wonderful traditional Staunton full chess set that cannot fail to impress.
