A superb value Staunton chess set featuring ebonized boxwood chess pieces and a striking tiger-stripe ebony chess board from Spain. Elegant, modern, and expertly crafted.

These Classic Staunton chess pieces offer excellent quality while still representing superb value. The quality of finish and attention to detail on these solid wooden chess pieces is far beyond what you would expect from a modestly priced set.

As you would expect, each chess piece has been expertly turned from solid boxwood, with the black pieces undergoing ebonization, a very convincing process that gives them the look of real ebony without its price tag. Each piece is then weighted and felted on the base. The 3.5-inch king height and their coloring make them perfect for this stunningly unique chess board.

Beautifully crafted by esteemed chess board maker Rechapados Ferrer of Spain, the playing surface uses a natural tiger-stripe ebony and maple veneer construction.

Modern fabrication techniques result in a chess board with clean, precise lines and very fine detailing. Natural, untreated ebony has a rich, contrasting dark grain that is simply stunning and well suited to modern interior design. A perfect combination of board and chess pieces.
