These British ebonized chess pieces are expertly carved in the easily recognizable Staunton design and still offer superb quality and excellent value.

From the tip of the king's finial through to the miter of the bishop down to the crenellations of the rook, this quality of finish and attention to detail is far beyond what you would expect from such a modestly priced chess set.

Each piece starts life as a solid block of boxwood, which is then expertly turned, carved, and finished. Half of the pieces undergo ebonization, a very convincing process that gives them the look of real ebony without the price tag, and all pieces are weighted and felted on their bases. With a king height of 3.5 inches, they are ideal for chess boards from 19.7 inches.
