The Sovereign Series chess pieces are finished to the finest grade available. The sweeping elegance of the curves of the shank, the detailing exhibited in the knight carving and the beautifully carved and sanded bishop's miter are perfect examples of the astonishing quality this set represents. At 3 inches in height, these chess pieces are relatively compact but without compromise in excellence. Each piece is polished by hand, balanced and weighted, and has a high-quality billiard cloth base to protect the chess board.

The chess board is a high-gloss lacquered rootwood and maple construction. Made in Italy to the best levels of craftsmanship we have seen. The high-gloss finish offers a level of opulence that even the most discerning chess aficionado will recognize, and also provides protection and strength to the board surface.
