Designed and hand-inlaid in Italy, this dark gray burl chess board is a work of art. Finished in a very high-gloss lacquer, the wood grain and knotting of the burl have an amazing depth. The inlaid veneer squares are bordered with a thin veneer of ebony that sections off the playing area from the edge.

The underside of the chess board features a lacquered wooden veneer and has felt pads to protect the surfaces underneath. The deep monochrome color of this chess board looks very contemporary and would best suit either brass, ebony or rosewood chess pieces with a king height of approximately 3 inches.
