Outstanding quality Italian-made walnut and elm veneer chess board. Finished in a quality lacquer, the board showcases the wood grain and knotting of the walnut, which look simply sublime and have a rich depth of tone and patterning that can only impress. The inlaid veneer squares are bordered with a thin veneer of ebony that separates the playing area from the edge.

The underside of the chess board features a lacquered wooden veneer and has felt pads to protect surfaces underneath. The coloring and tone of this board are best suited to black chess pieces, either ebonized boxwood or solid ebony, with a king height of 3 inches.
